Pajama Party #1

The big news this week was the announcement that Peter Parker will be donning the black costume in Spiderman 3. Now that is some sweet fan service. I have always been partial to the black costume, and even though this picture basically just looks like a gray tone image of his regular duds, I am excited. I guess this design saves the CG team a few bucks, since all they have to do is render their current models in B&W. Maybe they will keep the budget under $300 million after all.

In less cool superhero news, it looks like the Aquaman show Mercy Reef is really gearing up. Ving Rhames has signed up which, to me, is the surest sign of legitimacy for the show yet. They also recast the role of Arthur Curry. I’m not sure why it matters though. Is the world really ready for an Aquaman show? Will 2006* be the year that mermaids are finally welcomed into mainstream society? Or will the discrimination continue?

*As a side note, current 2006 projects involving mermaids include: The Aqualad Project, Mercy Reef, Next month's teen "fish-out-of-water" comedy Aquamarine, M. Night Shamallamadingdong's Lady in the Water, and not least of all the anticipated DVD release of Disney's The Little Mermaid. And that's just off the top of my head.

Wow. I didn't even realize Spiderman had a black costume. Or that Mermaid mania was nearly upon us.
