B.O. Derby

The pre-4th numbers are in. Superman didn't really get the "up, up, and away" expected, though he still is on his way toward the top. It now seems questionable whether the Man of Steel can top the Mutants. But, the Blue Boy Scout is doing slightly better than Batman Begins did at this point, so hopefully sales will be good enough to justify what would likely be a fantastic sequel. Cars is still consistently rolling along, looking to break $200 million soon, and to claim the year's top spot for animated films. Opening this week is the highly anticipated Pirates 2, and with Supes basically out of the way for #1 this summer, it doesn't look like anything can stop Jack Sparrow from taking the crown.
