Horton Who? What? and When?

There has been a deluge of news this week for the upcoming animated film Horton Hears a Who from 20th Century Fox Animation.

Horton Hears a Who based on Dr Seuss book and animated by the folks that brought you Ice Age and Robots is about an imaginative elephant who hears a cry for help coming from a tiny speck of dust floating through the air. Suspecting there may be life on that speck and despite a surrounding community which thinks he has lost his mind, Horton is determined to help.

Jim Carrey will voice Horton, and Steve Carell will voice the Mayor of Who-ville. How is that for a dream duo? The film even has a release date already of March 14, 2008, similar to the release date that led to Ice Age: The Meltdown's near $650,000,000 performance earlier this year. I predict Horton will be huge (how's that for a safe bet).

A few months back I drew a two page adaptation (of sorts) of Horton Hears a Who - after years of reading it to my son. Not many people got it, though. Perhaps now they will. :) (http://ape-law.com/jonmorris/calamity/harrison01.html)

Those are beautiful translations from 2D to CG... wow. No real diversion from the original Suess style illustrations! Would've been a nightmare in live action. Thanks for the news, you always have the good stuff!

Looks fantastic! I can't wait to see the animation.

I am so glad that this film will not be live action!
