Radar Blips - The Fifth Element

The Year: 1997

The Players: The Good: Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich The Bad: Sideshow Luke Perry and Chris Tucker

The Take: $64 mil in the US and $200 mil more internationally

So there are 5 elements?: Yep, in the classic sense not the periodic table kind. You know Water, Earth, Wind, and Fire. Turns out Alien Chick is also an "element." These 5 elements are necessary to stop a moon-sized (and shaped) evil ball from destroying Earth.

Why you should see it: There are so many reasons especially if you like comedic action sci-fi. Milla Jovovich plays Leeloo, and alien being that must find a reason to save Earth. It just so happens she is a pro at beating up aliens and loves saying "multipass." One fight scene in particular set to an operatic performance, is awesome. As a treat, I am including it in this blips rather than the trailer. Enjoy.

LP just had a small part at the beginning. he was the monks apprentice in the pyramid in the opening flashback. still, more than enough time to make him a "bad player"

Oh to be a first-timer watching this movie. You know, that feeling of "WTF am I watching? I dig it, but I don't understand.." One of my favorites too.

Ah. Probably 9 times out of 10, I don't see the very beginning, so thats party why I never knew. At the same time, I'm sure I've seen that part, but had no idea.

In the beginning the alien is crushed by a wall and gives the old guy a key out of one of it's finger as it dies. This is my 2nd favorite BW movie. Die hard rules! hehehe

Juno the "FIFTH" element is actually love. sooooo when they love each other in the middle of the four elements (Kissing and having feelings for each other not the other thing) THEY combine the elements and destroy evil happily ever after the end. LOL
