Radar Blips - The Fountain

The Year: 2006

The Players: Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), that chick from The Mummy (Rachel Weisz), directed by Darren Aronofsky

The Take: $10 Million

Is that tree in space?: It is and it isn't. Its a tree that sprouted out of someones corpse, and thus carries on life from them as it navigates through space toward a nebula around a dying star.

Why you should see it: Surprisingly, this is more of a drama than a real sci-fi movie. Its about a dude named Tommy that is trying to save his cancer stricken wife Izzi through animal research. Izzi is writing a book set in the past based on her and "Thomas". All the while Tommy is imagining a future for "Tom" and the wife-tree. This is a beautifully filmed albeit odd film about coming to grips with death and trying to prevent it in various ways by searching for the "fountain" of youth.

and it gave me a headache from watching it and I want my two hours of life back that it stole :).

Didn't like the movie, I guess this is one of those times when the book is a whole lot better than the movie.

This movie is weird and kind of depressing, but it helps one understand that death is not such a bad thing and in a sense is not th end of life.
