Coming October 5 from Walden Media (the folks behind Chronicles of Narnia and Holes). Enjoy the posters! I don't know much about this book, but if you do, feel free to post your thoughts.

Yes, please. I hope this turns out good, because I think the books are pretty good. Obviously

With an October 5 release, it doesnt seem like they are expecting much from this movie, but who knows. So, are these books worth reading at my mature age?

They're a quick read, and I think the plot is sufficiently interesting for an adult. Clearly they aren't expecting much, and I doubt that many people are familiar with these books. But its got a fairly classic quest for magical artifacts feel to it.

I found some info at ye olde wikipedia:

Disney has held the rights to The Tripods since 1997. It has been reported that a film version is in pre-production with Australian-born director Gregor Jordan signed on to rewrite and direct for Walt Disney's Touchstone Pictures label.
